Sunday in Sydney

Sarah and I decided to go to “Harry’s cafe de Wheels” this morning – supposedly the best place in Sydney for a genuine Aussie meat pie. On the way we noticed that something was starting up and that a big part of the main streets in the city had been blocked off. It turns out that even though it is not actually St. Patricks day until wed, there was a big parade planned.

We walked through Hyde park, past some interesting looking trees, and spotting a kookaburra before finally reaching Harry’s.

I went for the “Beef Tiger” amd Sarah opted for a “beef-curry Tiger” – both served with mushy peas, mashed potatoe and gravy. We sat down by the finger wharf (where Russel Crowe lives) to eat them.

On the way home, we bumped into the end of the parade (we took particular interest in this float – although they seemed to have spelled my name incorrectly..).

We then went for a walk to an area of town called “Surry Hills” – which is supposed to be a good part of town for pubs etc. One amusing thing we saw was a car dealership with a restaurant/pub on the side!

We walked home thru Chinatown and Darling harbour – which is right next to our apartment.

In the evening we went over to Lesley and Graham’s house (Sarah’s godparents) for a great dinner and drinks.

All the pics are here

A busy weekend!
